A Study about the Influence of the Care Workers Emotional Labor on Turnover Intention and Mediating Effects of Emotive Dissonance and Job Satisfaction

Abstract
The purposes of this study are to seek practical and political implications for turnover intention of the care workers by analyzing the effect of emotional labor on turnover intention of the care workers, and by verifying the mediating effects of emotive dissonance and job satisfaction on the relationship between emotional labor and turnover intention. To achieve the goal, a survey research was performed for 207 care workers in Seoul, Kyunggi and Incheon districts. The data was analyzed by correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis. The major results are as follows£ºFirst, the turnover intention and emotional labor, emotive dissonance were verified with the positive(+) relationship, whereas the turnover intention and job satisfaction were verified the negative(-) relationship. Second, the emotional labor and job satisfaction had a negative influence on turnover intention, whereas the emotive dissonance had a positive(+) influence. Third, the emotional labor was an antecedent of the turnover intention mediated by the emotive dissonance and job satisfaction. In conclusion, practical and political programs should be developed to decrease their turnover intension, and to increase the job satisfaction in long-term care settings.
